VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
POST 8587
Welcome to Post 8587
Ben D. Snowden Post
Camaraderie ~ Service ~ Advocacy
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Our common bond is service in overseas conflicts — Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Korea, the war on terrorism, or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Post 8587, a designated Purple Heart Post, is named in honor of M/SGT Ben D. Snowden, U.S. Army Special Forces, who served in Vietnam.
POST LEADERSHIP
COMMANDER'S CORNER
A note from the Post's leadership to every comrade who calls 8587 home.
JOHN MCCLESKEY
Post Commander, VFW Post 8587
Dear Comrades,
Welcome to VFW Post 8587.
Whether you are a long-time member, recently separated from military service, or visiting us for the first time, I want to personally welcome you to our Post.
VFW Post 8587 is more than a meeting place; it is a community of veterans united by shared experiences, continued service, and a commitment to one another. While our military service may have ended, our mission to support veterans, their families, and our local community continues.
Every member brings unique experiences, talents, and perspectives that strengthen our organization. Together, we preserve the legacy of those who came before us while ensuring today's veterans and future generations have a place to belong.
Whether you're looking to reconnect with fellow veterans, serve your community, mentor younger veterans, advocate for veteran issues, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of those who understand your journey, there is a place for you here.
I encourage every member to become involved. The success of our Post depends not on a few individuals, but on all of us working together. Every volunteer hour, every event attended, every new member recruited, and every act of service strengthens Post 8587.
Thank you for your service to our nation and for your continued commitment to our veterans and community. I look forward to serving alongside you.
